One of the first things that I struggled with, when I started to read the bible, was having what I can call a thread.

For a long time, I could not make sense of what I was reading. It seemed like what I was reading had no rhyme or reason. I felt lost. I didn't understand what I was reading, but more importantly everything that I read felt jumbled.

I remember being so frustrated with what I was reading because nothing made sense. I tried reading plans. I asked for advice. I watched videos...and nothing seemed to help. The reason that I kept going back, is because my desire to get to know He who saved me from the new age, and the world.

So. I prayed. I kept going. And I allowed myself the space to allow the answer to come.

This blog post, is going to uncover the answers and my process into learning how to read and study the bible in a way that fosters my relationship with the Lord.

*Coming from a person that needs to write things down to another *

A process which I will share with you...

The first answer that I was given was the idea to read the bible in chronological order . This helped me tremendously, because it gave an order to what I was reading and allowed me to understand what I was reading in a linear way...beginning. Middle. End. I was able to put together what I was reading, because I was not skipping all over the place.

The next thing that happened, was the knowing that the bible is living and active. This helped me understand that the Lord is always speaking to me (and YOU) in/through His word. This gave me incentive to become curious about what I was reading. I started to ask questions, look things up, search for meaning, definitions, and historical context in what I was reading. I learned HOW to learn during this time.

My time reading is not a chore, but something that I enjoy. I realized that I every time that I read, something new was being added to me. Something planted deep with in me. Because the word of God is living and active, I noticed that I was being rebuilt...what I needed was a place to capture what I was learning so that what I could recall it, grow in it, and revisit what I was learning to build on upon it.

This is how the Bible Journal Inserts were born. I became aware that what I was reading, was speaking to me, and I needed a place for that to sit. To ruminate.

All of the bible planner inserts were created to foster the process of the word coming to life within.

What I began to see deeply, is that in order for the word to help. Heal. Transform, and live within me, I had to surrender into the process. I had to learn to surrender into what I was reading. To live by it, and to learn to listen to what I what I was reading.

The inserts help me do just that. Each set, created to help me in this process. The first set, which are aptly named Reflect is a series of inserts, created to assist in personal growth while you're doing your daily bible study. This series, which are the Journaling Page, the Verse Comparison Page, the Word Study Page, and the Verse Study Page, all came from a time when I was learning how to understand what I was reading, and more that than, learning how to take in, observe and speak to the Lord about what I was reading. I needed a place to sit and undo or unwind my spirit to what I was reading. A place to reflect upon what I was reading, so that the message of the passages, words and verses made sense to me.

The next aspect of deeper bible study, I learned had to do was learning how to track what I was reading. This is why the Calendar pages, Log and Verse Keeper were the next things that I was taught and became aware of as a necessity to the process. I realized that in order to recall definitions that I'd looked up previously, or to recall a passage, chapter or verse that I learned something about, I needed to go back and recall where I'd been. This is how these pages came to be. It gave me an organized space to go back and find past notes etc.

Finally, are the pages to help me Grow. Having a more long term reflective quality, the inserts that belong to this section; the Monthly Reflection, the Chapter Study, and the Book Study, all come together for the purpose of helping you go back, and see what you've learned over the month /years, and see how far the Lord has brought you.

What makes this system different, and very unlike other bible learning systems is that this one does not depend on other's questions, input and outside interactions to help you deepen. Now. There is nothing wrong with those systems, and we can get a lot of knowledge from many things out there...BUT the way that this system works is that it works in tandem with your relationship with the Lord. Because you are deepening into, where the Lord is leading you, and where you are learning, growing, reflecting and deepening in YOUR life with the Lord next to you.

It's a natural, and very personal process. One that is guided by the Lord and the Holy Spirit.

Graceful Plan's Bible Reading System TM, is a system that was created through years of following the lead of the Spirit, in Bible study. It is a process that anchors you in HOW YOU learn and grow, by giving you the tools to follow the leads of the Spirit, as you read.

The inserts, come together, to form the "on paper" tapestry of your personal growing faith and relationship with the Lord.

It gives you a physical place to document, track, build and understand your growth. Where you can deepen, reflect and grow. It is not the growth itself, but it helps you foster the connections to learning HOW to grow.
